Welcome to Texas!

Lots to update on... but for now, the biggest would be location. We are officially settled into our new life in the Lone Star state! So far so good, minus a few tornados last week (yikes!)... and it's HOT. But can't complain! Brandon was fortunate enough to make the big league team out of Spring Training this year so we are posted up in Arlington and just wrapped up the first home stand of the season!

I left Virginia on Thursday, March 29th and arrived in Dallas during the evening of the 31st. I had to kill time in a hotel room in Dallas with Tex for 2 days while we waited to hear where Brandon was going to start the season. The Rangers literately waited until the very last minute to make there decision - which was obviously a great one! After 5 long weeks, I finally got to see Brandon when I picked him up from the stadium on Monday, April 2nd at 1AM. (I guess that is technically the 3rd?).

The last week and a half has been so great! We have had fun getting settled into our new life here and getting to know the other families on the team. Brandon left this afternoon for a 10 day road trip :( Luckily, I am getting to meet him in Boston for the middle series starting Sunday. I am SO excited to visit Fenway Park! And be a tourist in Boston for a few days.

We are so happy to be here and thankful for everything that has happened with Brandon's career and the fact that we all get to be together! More updates coming soon...

So long dress pants and cardigans

Well friends, the Big Move is getting closer... 2 weeks from today and we will be on our way down to Texas! This also means that my days at work are winding down. I can't believe I only have 6 days left! I always thought I would be so happy to give up the "corporate world" for this baseball lifestyle, but honestly it's one of the hardest decisions I had to make. cardigan

I can't imagine life without my job and the people in it. As much as I complain about getting up at 6am every morning (okay... 6:30 after I snooze a few times), I don't know what I will do without this structure and routine I have made for myself! I have gotten so used to being busy and constantly thinking about my job that I have developed such an attachment to it. I genuinely care about the work I do and the people I support. I will always hold this team very close to my heart!

Although I am still not sure what this lifestyle change will bring for my career, I am definitely going to take some "me" time once we get to Texas to figure it all out. I'm thinking two weeks will be perfect :) If you know me at all, you will know that I will probably be going crazy after just one!

Aso it begins...

The 2012 baseball season is officially underway. The first spring training game was last Sunday - of course I am not with B right now so I can only listen to the games on the radio. I bough the MLB app for $14 or so and I love it! I get full coverage of every game right on my phone. The games come on around 2 or 3 East Coast time, so I can stream the game from my phone towards the end of the day at work and finish up listening on my long drive home. B has been doing really great so far! He has yet to start a game, but has played the last 4 games in a row - getting a handful of RBIs, a couple hits, and even a walk!

I have been so used to seeing him in orange and black that this new uniform always catches me a little off guard. But I LOVE it. Blue really looks great on him :) I am so happy he is doing well with this new team. He really loves the atmosphere in the club house and everyone has a very positive and motivated attitude. All good things-- that's what I tell him!

I wish I was out in AZ to enjoy the sun and the games, but for now I will have to settle for my iPhone and google images to get a glimpse of my honey in his new blue outfit :)

Hello weekend, I've missed you.

Happy Saturday!

It feels like forever since I have been home on a Saturday. The last two were spent in Arizona, and the one before that... well it's still early so my brain can't remember that far back right now.

Tex allowed me to sleep in until 8 this morning (he usually starts gets hungry for breakfast starting around 6am) so that was a bonus. Since I was already up and the house was clean I decided to hit the gym (something I really need to start doing more of). I always give myself a little pep talk before I go to the gym. Am I the only person who does this? Humor me...

I have trouble "fitting in" at the gym, I always have ever since I started going in college. Maybe because I am not very athletic and I feel like they can tell. Who are "they"? You know, those everyday gym people who walk around like they own the place. Oh how I wish I had their confidence! But sadly... I am uncoordinated and extremely unfamiliar with just about every aspect of the gym. I usually stay glued to the cardio section for the post part, then mosey on over the the aerobics section so I can do abs shoved in the corner of the room so no one can see me. Anyways, my usual pep talked worked a little today. I told myself, "Lindsey, you can do this. You can walk over the weights section to do squats. No one will even notice you. You will totally blend in. You will totally look like you know exactly what you're doing. Everything will be fine. You know you want your hammys to look good since you probably are wearing a dress tonight." Or at least something like that. I quickly did my squats and got out of there! Mission accomplished. B would be so proud because he was the one who taught me to do these certain type of squats where you actually sit when you go down before you rise back up. IT BURNS!! But it feels good. I have a little swagger in my step right now when I walk. Not due to coolness of course but rather soreness. Hey, at least I did it! Boom.

Tonight I am going to an engagement party for one of my friends I went to high school with. I am so excited to see my girlfriends! Plus I am getting a ride to and back which means I will be consuming some wine and feeling good in my dress and nicely toned (a girl can dream) hamstrings.

Enjoy your weekend!

mom car

It was extremely fitting that Brandon found out the transmission on our truck was on its way out the day before we left for Spring Training. We got the good news around lunchtime after he picked up his truck from having some maintenance work done. B explained to the mechanic that his wife (me!) was going to drive the truck down to Texas at the end of next month so we needed to make sure everything was up to par. Up to par it was NOT... major fail. They told him that the truck could "probably make it down to Texas" but then we'd need a new transmission. Probably??? I can just see Tex and I lounging on the side of the road in somewhere in Arkansas trying to hitch a ride from a trucker. Nooo thank ya.

So upon hearing of this wonderful new development, my husband drove from the Ford dealership where the truck was being worked straight to the Chevy dealership and bought a brand new Suburban. Oh yeah you heard me. A Suburban. Fully loaded with all the bells and whistles including 2 (because 1 is never enough!) TVs in the back, nav, heated steering wheel, I mean I didn't even know they made Chevy's this sick. Not to mention this thing seats like 7 people. Last time I checked there were 2 1/2 of us.

Anyways, today was the first day I drove to work in my new mom car. I am calling it my mom car even though the only child I have eats from a tin bowl on the floor and is covered in light blonde fur. It's actually my pimped out mom car. Black on black, tints, the whole shebang. I could totally pass for an official government employee in this baby. So far so good on making it to and from work in one piece driving this huge thing.

Now all I need are some kids to fill up this mom car!

Don't worry... we are in no rush :) Look at this beauty. And when you take out the back seat we've got a ton of room to fit all our stuff for the season. The only thing I still need to work on is parking. For now, I choose to walk really far from my car to wherever I may be going. I could use the extra exercise anyways.

I'm backkkk

Hello!
Well folks, I decided to take about a year off from blogging! Unintentionally of course... I guess life just caught up to me and blogging became extremely low on my priority list :) Work, wedding, dog, and the list goes on! Anyways, I have decided to give this thing one more shot. In about a month or so, I will be many, many miles away from my friends and family, so I am hoping this will be a way of providing "updates" of what's going on in our crazy lives!

We've had some huge changes since last Spring! Brandon was traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the Texas Rangers in January (hence the miles of separation from our friends and families). This is such a GREAT opportunity for him. Because Texas is about a day's drive away from Virginia, we decided it was best if Tex and I hit the road with Brandon this year. It was such a hard decision to make - harder than I ever thought. I love my job, and I will be very sad to leave it in 4 short weeks! But it's more important for our little family to be together. While things are a bit uncertain in the Snyder household right now (oh yeah - we got married!!!) - we know that everything will be okay and we will get through it together.

Okay... more filling in to come. I leave you with a few snaps I took this past week while in Arizona with hubby for Spring Training. (okay, the last one was actually for our honeymoon - but it's one of my favorites)

so yeah...

It's been like two weeks since I've posted. Oops.

What do I do? I pay all this money to make my blog look cute, actually tell people I know that I have a blog, and then I go and never post anything. Am I that surprised? Ummm no. I need to get better at this. It's on my "to-do" list :) Along with making a dentist appointment, orthodontist appointment (reasoning for this one will come later), and a hair appointment (BADLY)...

The past two weeks have been super busy. I got home from my second trip down to Norfolk to visit the hubby yesterday. Tex has done so well on these road trips! I was thoroughly impressed/surprised. He sleeps most of the time in the car. Let me rephrase. He sleeps whenever he's not too busy sticking his head out the window and taking in all the beautiful smells of the open road. I swear, seeing his lips flapping in the wind puts a smile to my face every time. You cannot be in a bad mood with that view (even if you are sitting in I-95 traffic!)

But yes, the two weekends we got to go see "Dad" were amazing. Exhausting! But amazing. Brandon is doing really well right now! He's leading the team in just about every category on the stats board. Fingers crossed he can keep this up! It was nice to see two of my old baseball girls at the games, too. Most of my girlfriend's husbands/boyfriends/etc. have either been traded or called up to the big leagues by now- but a few of us still remain in good old Norfolk! Brandon and I went out to dinner one night our first trip down with his new buddy and his girlfriend. It was so much fun! We had great conversations and she, Angie, is going through a similar situation as I am with the whole 'living alone with a puppy' deal. It was very refreshing to be able to relate so someone else who is experiencing some of the same life challenges as you are. It makes you feel like you aren't crazy! And I know we an all use a little bit of that every once in awhile. You feelin' me?

One big change going on in our household these days has to do with my little monster, Tex. The last straw was my retainer. Yes, I still wear a retainer. He ate it the day we came back from our first Norfolk trip. While I am still extremely bitter about him destroying of a couple hundred dollars worth of mouth accessories, I am more worried about him really hurting himself. He can definitely die from eating something like this. SO... Brandon and I decided we needed to start crating him. I know what you're thinking....DUH! I know, I know... but it was definitely hard for me to come to this realization. We gave him too much credit for being such a good puppy that we thought he would be fine on his own during the day. Well... we thought wrong! It's okay though because Tex gets a half an hour of play time every day with his favorite dog walkers. We've been doing this for over a week now and he seems to be adjusting just fine! Not to mention my house is SOOOO much cleaner... I was telling Brandon before I felt like Tex ruled the house. Everything I did I had to keep in mind that he might destroy it if it was in reach of his mouth or his paws (or even if it wasn't... somehow he got that darn retainer...)

Speaking of the house, I have also been doing a ton of work/additions/rearranging lately... I will make sure to post some pictures soon.

Well, my apologies for the long post -- I promise I will get better at my updates!
That's all for now... I bid you farewell with one of my favorite pictures from the last two weeks. They are so happy to see each other!

Night y'allllllll
